Maestro Diemecke

Artistic General Director of the famed Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires and award-winning Music Director of the Buenos Aires Philharmonic and the Flint Symphony Orchestra in Michigan, will select 8 aspiring conductors and 10 auditors for the intensive One-week program. Activities will be of score analysis led by Maestro Diemecke, followed by  rehearsals and concert in México City by the participants with the Carlos Chávez Orchestra in the Centro Cultural Los Pinos.

In 2022 Maestro Enrique Diemecke will present master classes and workshops for orchestral conductors with the Orquesta Carlos Chávez of the Sistema Nacional de Fomento Musical of México

Program Details

Eight aspiring conductors will be selected as Full Participanting conductors in workshops and master clases with two pianos, rehearsals with the orchestra, one dress rehearsal and one public concert in the new Centro Cultural Los Pinos, located in the beautiful, historic Chapultepec Park in México City (September, 2022)

In advance of the workshops and master clases, Maestro Diemecke will rehearse the full orchestra and lead them in a concert of the repertoire selected for the master clases (August 29-September 4, 2022)

The podium time for each Full Participating conductor will be as follows:

  • Workshops with two pianos, totalling 55 minutes.
  • Rehearsals with orchestra, totalling 75 minutes.
  • Dress rehearsal, 11 minutes.

Previous to the workshops and master classes in México City, the Full Participanting conductors will receive a 3 hour webinar session with Maestro Diemecke, in preparation of the live sessions.

Tuition for Full Participanting conductors includes shared hotel accommodations in a double room and local transportation to and from all sessions.

In addition to the 8 Full Participanting conductors, there will be 10 Auditor conductors selected, who will attend all of the sessions with the Full Participating conductors. In addition, Auditor conductors will have 15 minute session with two pianos.

All sessions will be professionally recorded by the organizer and offered to the participants.

Interested Applicants

The Master Classes and Workshops are open to aspiring conductors of all nationalities. The organizers will advertise internationally for participants. Applicants will submit cvs, letters of reccomendation and video recordings. Participants and auditors will be selected by Maestro Diemecke.

  • Maestro Diemecke has been a teacher of the leading Mexican conductors of recent years, including: Jesús Medina, Director of the Jalisco Philharmonic; Carlos M. Prieto, Director of the Louisiana Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra of México; Juan Carlos Lomónaco, Director of the Yucatán Orchestra; Alondra de la Parra, former Director of the Queensland Symphony; Christian Gohmer, Director of Solistas Ensamble Choir of the National Fine Arts Institute of Mexico (INBA); Rodrigo Sierra Moncayo, Director of Zapopan Youth Orchestra of Jalisco; Abdiel Vázquez, pianist and Artistic Director of Opera of Morelia.
  • From 2016 to 2019 Maestro Diemecke received the grant “Creadores escénicos con trayectoria” from the Federal Culture Secretary of México to give Master Classes and Workshops throughout the country to more than 70 conducting students, culminating in Maestro Diemecke’s forthcoming book of his experiences as conductor and teacher.
  • From 2018 Maestro Diemecke has been the head of Seminars in orchestral conducting of the prestigious Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires, trough the Superior Art Institute and its Academic Orchestra.
  • From 2007 to 2011, Maestro Diemecke was both teacher of orchestra conducting and Music Director of the Academic Orchestra of the Superior School of Music of the National Fine Arts Institute of Mexico.
  • During the 2020 quarantine, Diemecke was invited to give two webinar conducting Master Classes for the Seminar “Eduardo Mata” of the National University Autonomous of México (UNAM).
